
Elevator Pitch Competition
Sponsored by the Brown Forum for Enterprise and the International Society for Optical Engineering
RULES
To participate you must be an undergraduate or graduate student, and although the conference is focused on biophotonics, the competition is open to all student ideas. This competition is limited to 30 participants, and the first 30 to sign up will be accepted. Those who wish to participate must email BFE@Brown.edu or call 401-863-3528.
Participants are permitted to bring 1 transparency (power point is not permitted), and the time limit is strictly 2 minutes; those who do not finish within the allowed time will be cut off. There will be no question/answer session.
JUDGING CRITERIA
1) Presentation quality (enthusiasm, organization, preparation)
2) Explanation of technology/concept (ability to effectively communicate)
3) Address the market (commercial opportunities, how the technology solves a problem, advantages, etc.)
$600 CASH PRIZE:
Grand Prize (1) = $150
Runners Up (2) = $100
Consolation Prize (5) = $50
This competition is intended to be an educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students with new ideas, and is not intended for established companies which are incorporated and/or have received any form of funding.
